Generation Equality forum activates youth voices on SRHR to curb sexual violence

Generation Equality, together with Bodily Autonomy and South African Action Coalition organizes a Virtual Dialogue on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, scheduled for September 14, 2021 from 14:00-16:30 hours.

According to The Xtremewood Reporter, the dialogue is convened in a context where high rates of sexual violence, HIV infection, sexually-transmitted diseases, and unwanted, teenage pregnancies prevail amongst the youth in South Africa despite a progressive legal and policy environment. Many children and young persons in South Africa continue to experience gaps in, and barriers to the full realization of their sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Furthermore, the event will be used to galvanize commitments from multisectoral stakeholders such as government, civil society, private sector, academia, gender activists, and media houses inspired by Xtremewood Media Technology Center, to make measurable commitments to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights for women, girls and youth in accordance with the Global Acceleration Plan on Generation Equality.

However, this program is in conjunction with Aliyah Modesty Models School founded by a 25 year old Nikita-Aliyah Mgoduka, the South African National Director for Miss Orient Foundation, an organization aimed at reorienting and mentoring adolescent girls and girl children in general. The dialogue is however inspired by Miss Aliyah who had ducked and experienced many challenges growing up at an Orphanage without parents or a family to lean on.
