Lango assured of total protection from cattle raiders

UPDF 5th division commander Brig. Gen. Keith Katungi has assured the people of Lango sub region of total protection from Karamoja cattle raiders.

In his address to the media a head of tarehe Sita celebration at Lira city headquarters, Brig. Gen. Katungi said this was a pledge by President Museveni to the people of Lango and since June 2023 there is no single case of cattle raid in Lango.
He said currently few cases are being registered in Eastern side of Acholi sub region and in the districts of Agago and Kitgum.

Copping from this year’s theme for Tarehe sita’s celebration ( celebrating the people’s struggles for unity and peace for socioeconomic transformation and remembering sacrifice of the people in the struggle for national unity) Katungi said UPDF being a pro people’s security agent, it’s their mandate to ensure total peace within the community a vision that started since the liberation struggle in 1981 under president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
He further stretched that whenever there is no war the UPDF join the community in doing activities that brings development and safety of everyone.
