Atiak Health Centre IV in Atiak Town Council, Amuru District is currently facing a major setback as surgeries have been put on hold for a week due to a power outage.

The facility’s solar system is not strong enough to support the necessary surgical procedures, resulting in patients being referred to St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor.

Dr. Angelo Oceng, the head of Atiak Health Centre IV, expressed his concerns about the situation and emphasized the need for urgent action to address the issue. Additionally, Kenneth Okot, the Local Council Three Chairperson of Atiak Town Council, highlighted the broader impact of the outage on businesses in the area, causing significant financial losses for traders.

Efforts to resolve the problem are underway, with the Local Council Three office reaching out to the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited to replace the faulty transformer. Jonan Kizza, a spokesperson for the company, has assured that a new transformer is on its way to Atiak and power is expected to be restored by the end of the week.

It is crucial for all parties involved to work together to expedite the restoration of power at Atiak Health Centre IV to ensure that essential healthcare services can resume without further delay. The well-being of the community depends on it.
