Traffic Flow Along Gulu-Rackoko-Moroto Road Resumes

Traffic flow has returned to normal along Gulu-Rackoko-Moroto road which was on Tuesday impassable after flash floods submerged the Odek Bridge cutting off over 200 travelers from Pader and Omoro.

The bridge that connects Pader and Omoro was impassable after it was submerged following the Monday night heavy downpour and bursting of Aswa River banks.
Jimmy Kakamon, the Local council One Chairperson, Te-Olam Village, said traffic flow resumed today after water levels reduced during the night.
He said over 20 vehicles and about 100 motorcyclists spent the night on either side of the bridge.
Gulu-Opit-Rackoko road is one of the oldest trade routes connecting Acholi to Karamoja Sub Region, easing trade in the regions, mainly cereals being ferried to the semi-arid Karamoja region before the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) war.
